Hello All!

I'm spiffing up an 041AV that belonged to my father. The saw does not appear to have a fanwheel of any kind. There seem to be four different versions of the flywheel/ignition assembly as shown in the attached screen grabs from the 041 manual, some of which do have a fanwheel. Having removed the flywheel, mine seems to be the one on the left in the first pic. How does this setup cool the cylinder?

Okay... Yeah, its GOT to have a fan. Can't imagine that I lost it though. I had everything in one place. I suppose it couldn't start without it and I did use it several times before breaking it down 🤔

This is what I am looking at. This is the Bosch ignition, isn't it? Given that pull assembly, do I need the fan with the starter ring or the cogs cast into the fan?

The fan with the plastic starter ring appears to be THIS ONE that is called for the SEM ignition (I think the magnets are part of the fan in this one, part number 1110 086 0500. The manual I posted pics from above calls for THIS ONE, part number 1110 086 0505.

Yes, the early Bosch points type. There was also the Bosch CDI type used later.

You’ll need the fan wheel with the plastic starter ring, since you have a friction shoe starter shown there.

It would have never started before, w/o a fan wheel
