I have an older Stihl 041 that my father-in-law gave to me. I believe it has about a 20" bar. That saw really cuts well and is put together great. I see lots of the 041's for sale but no where near the cost to other saws such as the Stihl 034 or 036 in the same condition? Why the wide variance in cost?

Good question...

Why does a 1995 car sell for more then a 1985 car. Same reason... The 034/36 is not only younger, but the next generation of construction and anti-vibe.

The 34/36 is a lot better saw in many respects. I like the 041, particularly the "super", but they are heavy on the arms, new parts are getting scarce, and they are more about "torque" than "speed"...

LakeSide53 ....you definitely have a way with words and getting a point across. Yes, that is a compliment! I can never second guess what your reply may consist of but I can always count on two things...I can always learn from it and know that you have probably experienced it in some form or fashion! Appreciate and enjoy all your input to these threads!
