actually its at my dealers place, he has some pile of used saw/parts
he took those pics for me, i dropped the saw at his place after i found some unusual idling behaviour
and we found the clutch side end moved in an oblong fashion when the rope is pulled
turned out the crank cracked and came apart when he pulled it out
i guess im lucky it didnt snap while running, cant imagine the damage that would have happened

i haven't experienced it before but i've seen it on here before. think it was a 880 though and the guy caught it when it was just a crack. can't remember who it was though.

if its from milling i could imagine, bad batch maybe ?
Two 084's, one 088 ,066 none of these saws were used for milling.
But these saws never had it easy either.

I've not seen this on saws. Have seen dirt bikes spit out lower rod bearings which work their way up through the transfers and wreak havoc.

Is the lower rod bearing failing first or just a crack developing on the pin? Was the P/C O.K.?

P/C were all OK on the crankshafts I posted, the 088 ignition module came loose and had a fight with the flywheel,
The two 084 saws had locked up crank bearings and the big end bearing and Con rods were blue,I guess the sudden stop at full noise was too much.
The Guy that bought in the 084's has a pile of broken and busted up saws
Truly a sad and sorry site.

my dealer did mention rude stop and run cycle will eventually cause some of these failures

I wonder if this is why they say to let the saw idle a couple of minutes after use, to allow the engine itself to regain its equilibrium with air moving through and across it. Maybe it's not just for the electrical components.
