Does anyone happen to know the part numbers for these parts? I special-ordered both the H & L screws from the dealer. They had them for 2 weeks and didn't bother to call me. I go to the dealership and the fact that he says, "Here are your High & Low Adjustments for the 036." should've been a red-flag. Uhh, I ordered them for the 310. Oh, yeah that's right.

Get home. Take filter cover off and attempt to put screws in and they don't appear to fit. So they actually did order the wrong parts. Either that or I am not installing them correctly. It doesn't appear to be rocket science.

Any advice would help.

FYI: There are the holes in the side of the carb. I make sure the fine point at the end of the H/L screws fit inside the center of those holes. When I screw them in it just turns and turns to the point where if I were to tip the saw on it's side (or let it idle) the screws would fall out.

Zama or Walbro carb????

.

1127B

That's the only identifier I can see on the carb. I'll go take a picture of it. Maybe that'll help.

For sh*ts & giggles let's see if we can identify what part they ACTUALLY sold me.

1127 122 6200
1127 122 6800
1128 122 6703

Thanks a ton Ultra. Now when I go to my trusty local Stihl dealer today I can tell them with absolute certainty that they sold me the wrong parts.

So they gave me the right parts. I guess they will not fit unless I have a sealing ring?

:bang:

Thanks again Ultra.

So. My newbieness showed today. I didn't compensate for the existing H/L limiter caps in the carb. :monkey:

So I go to the dealer anyway like I said I would and he informed me that the carb is an intelli-carb and that once it is set in the factory that it should NEVER be adjusted. I mentioned to him that it seemed weird that my Owner's Manual would have a page dedicated to carb tuning if you were NEVER supposed to tune the carb. I didn't ask about muffler mods because he would have probably jumped down my throat! He said that the intelli-carb will always create the correct mixture. Again, he reiterated that I should NEVER, EVER, EVER manually tune the carb.

He also told me that the Internet gets saw owners in trouble. Ain't that the truth!

Ignore your dealer.. you need to identify exactly which carb you have. There will be tiny letter/numbers somewhere that say the type.

But.. why did you want to replaced the screws? They don't go bad, and even if abused, still work..

In reading my manual on carb adjustment it said to turn out the screws. It didn't mention anything about limiter caps. I looked in the hole and don't see a screw. I took that as not having screws. :monkey:

I looked at the carb again and couldn't find any letters that indicate the type.

62-116 is what I see on the choke shutter. Inside the carb I see the number 42. Left side of the carb I see 1127B.

This is what the dealer told me I have:

He verified that the part numbers for the L/H were the same as in this image. Glancing at my receipt I can verify this.

Thanks Lakeside!

Is it true that once I pull the limiter caps I need to replace them with brand new ones?

Is there any harm that can be done by prying them out with a small screwdriver?

Yes, you'll invariably break them and get then stuck in the carb. use the correct tool or a wood screw (make sure you reverse the direction so the tabs line up in the slots before pulling).

Yes, you need to put new caps on. They are only 50 cents each. Slice the limit tab off the side.
