I'm curious if these two saw are comparable in performance. I received a husky rancher 455 for christmas, but I really wanted something comprable to stihl 361 in power. So what husky model should I trade the rancher 455 in for.

Thanks

I love my ms 361 the other saws I have tryed don't compare to the power and lite weight of this saw. I also love the power range on the saw. Just sell the Husky and buy the ms 361.

muffler open

The saws we are getting in the states now probably all need the muffler opened up a bit. The EPA has got a hold on things and strangled our engines with their stupid requirements. It is illegal to have a state side saw in Europe because the state side runs hotter. The european saws have more power and run cooler. Ain't that a bite, the country that is on the United States rear to clean up the air won't abide by their own rules?:angry2: :angry2: :blob2: :blob2:

The 357xp is as close as you get to the MS361 in the Husky model lineup.

Stated power output of the 357xp is .1 kw lower than the 361 in the US, and .2 kW in the rest of the world (it is the 361s that are rated different, not the 357s). I think you would be hard pressed to notice the differense.....
The 359 should not be in the same ballpark when stock, but nevertheless a much better choise than the 455.

The 357xp and 359 is slightly heavier than the 361 according to the independent test reports that I have seen, even though Husky claimes the opposite.
I doubt if you will notice that difference either.

The ergonomics are quite different, imo there are pluses and minuses with both models.

Not trying to beat up on you, but did you just hear this on AS (a great source of information, mostly :) ) or do you know this for a fact? I don't see this in many of the the IPLs.. I see minor differences from county to county, but mainly with AUS/NZ (often specific spark arresters) and sometimes Canada, but not USA verses "Europe".
