Hello from Norway.

Bought a brand new 661CM two months ago, started it up when i came home from the dealer. Everything seemed
OK. Then, yesterday i tried to start it again, no start, took out the spark plug, no spark. Tested with another brand new plug, no spark either.

The saw has not seen any lumber yet, and has maybe been running no more than 5 minutes. QUALITY.
I had planned to use it together with my alaskan mill today, but no.....

Any thoughts what could be wrong?

I have read about some problems with the ignition module, carb solenoid, intake boot etc on this M-Tronic saws, is
this a major/known problem?

Hi,

So did you buy it from a dealer? And did this dealer start your saw in front of you? As said just take it it back.

Dealer should have testing tool necessary to test your saw.

It's got a broke wire in the carb housing or one unhooked.
It's not a big deal but if it's new then you need to take it to the dealor so it can be fixed.

Brand new 661, thats a lot of money into a saw that won't start, this thread caught my eye and reminded me of several months ago went into dealer where I bought a km130 years ago. I picked out a 362 and I was just gung ho about buying a new saw for some reason. possible mania? Anyway the old man, owner of the shop, said lets put it in your hands and come out back and get it started. I set the throttle, choke, pull the cord, nothing, pulled again, nothing, this went on for about a half hour and owners helper started removing covers and fiddling with it, still no pop, no start, nothing. Owner said his mechanic will be in tomorrow and will have to diagnose it. He refunded my debit card and said something to the effect that he never liked the new design and electronic carb and he will keep a look out for an MS361 for me.

Things happen all the time to new saws,it's not because it's a 661 or because it's mtronic.

If it was just bought new then why not take it and have it fixed?
It doesn't cost anything.
If you don't engage the choke fully it won't push the switch on the control box and it won't fire.
I ported one that ran and started great until one day it wouldn't start,no fire.
Kill switch wire was unplugged inside the carb housing.
