Since I'm now the proud owner of a Stihl FS55, FS85, and FS250 I know I'm going to have to grease them.
Any word on how "special" the Stihl brushcutter grease is? Can I pump in almost anything that I use on my tractor etc?
To me it's a royal pain to have to keep track of small special purpose greases.

While I am normally opposed to brand supremacy, in this case I say, why risk it? I know you might be able to find other cheaper brands, but Stihl brushcutter grease is made specifically for their weed eaters, and the amount you need to keep it lubricated is so small. The amount you need makes the cost of the grease almost negligible. Those are just my two cents. There could very well be other grease out there that's cheaper and works the same, but I haven't heard of any specifically.

A tube of Stihl grease goes a long way, and the threads on the tube are matched to the grease plug. I use it on my Skookum blocks too for the same reason. No need for a plunger-type gun, as you're not forcing grease deep into a bearing. The little tube doesn't take up much space in your kit.
