We need pics of the full saw, the unless the saw is relatively new (2000's) the serial number probably won't help.
I will take a picture after work I think it’s either a 044 or an 046. Any way to tell the difference between? Thanks JP
I was thinking the same. I’ll look up the serial number here shortly, may give us more information.

My friend gave it to me. He was/ is a full time logger faller. Anyway he parked it because the fuel tank cracked bad and he said it was cheeped to buy a new one between repairs and downtime. Been sitting 20 years in his shed. Definitely no eathanol in the gas back then. I was able to put enough in the tank for a test run

Here is a pretty neat site that will give you a year based off of serial number. It gives you a bunch of other interesting stuff also.

Nice. I’ll have to bookmark those. I was trying to search that serial number through Stihl eServices but came up as “no information available”.

stihl has ser numbers done by country. units sold in Canada only show on Canadian system and same with USA sold units
