I was hoping to see one of these at the factory tour I took, but none were available. I think it is a great idea for bucket or ground work like they say. I grew up using a homelite super EZ as a climbing saw so a lightweight rear handle stihl should bring back some memories.Would have to try it in a tree to feel the balance of it. I did get to hold the new 192t and liked it, but was told it is not out for sale yet, hopefully by spring.

ive got 2 of them, i posted pictures a while back.

had one for a couple years and just got a new one..

great powerful small saw..

They've been marketing them in Europe for the past couple of years anyway that I know of.

I got my order in for one of those rear handled MS 200's at our local dealer, still no word on when they are going to be available. I told him I wanted to be the first one to have one.

Ever since I changed to using a rear handled saw for climbing, I won't go back to a top handle while climbing in a tree. Doing bucket work is just the opposite, I'll use a top handle saw.

TreeTX has one, over in Germany. wonder how he likes his, ever since he posted a picture of one I've had the ----- I gotta have that saw syndrome.

Wow, that's a new one on me. :Eye:

Why the Elastostart handle on such a small displacement saw?

Does it really help crank her up?

MB,

You want to hear another strange one. I get real anal if I see an 020 getting used for groundwork. An ocassional cut or two while on the ground if it is handy doesn't bother me.

I'm just fussy about this for a number of reasons.

One is the cost of them, a cheaper saw can be used for ground work that gets dull quicker from hitting dirt or asphalt. Why use a good climbing saw for type of work.

Another reason is our 020's have always been used strictly for climbing or as bucket truck saws, the 020's in most cases will get the bulk of a tree down to the ground. To me 020's are like the premadonna's of small saws that get the best of care, they get excused from wood cutting jobs like limbing, cutting off bushes or small stumps, cutting wood into firewood lengths.

The o2o (ms200) is an awesome saw, a little screamer. This coming from a husky lover. My old boss has 6 bucket trucks with 2 or 3 men each they all have 020s for climbing or in the bucket and every other saw he own is a husky. How can you one hand it if the handle is on the back? I have pretty strong hands but it would kill me to cut and hold with that kind of saw. 020 in the tree, 372, 394 on the ground.

Compression release is on there to save to pull cord, not the user :D I replace alot of cords on TS 760's and 066's cause they don't use the release..

Course on my 066's I have a plug in the whole :p

Good comment Mike. I had a 038 AV without elastostart and decompression, and I hated to start the thing, for I had to wear thick gloves to absorb the compression schocks. Now I have a MS 361 with elastostart and decompression valve, and I'm no longer afraid to take that saw of the shelve to cut some firewood.

I bought also a rear handle MS 200 a few week ago to replace my Husky 136, and I did not regret my choice. Great power for a small saw, lightweight, easy cold start (I have some problems with a warm start). Someone who will have to cut all day will fall in love with that saw, and use bigger models only when they really have to. These new Stihls are top !

That's the way I was taught.

MS 200 exhaust warning from Germany

I recently read this on a German forum:

".......ganz klar, die MS 200 ist keine Einhandsäge. Sie hat aber den Auspuff rechts unten, was beim Asten denkbar ungeschickt ist. Ich habe früher mit einer 041 AV (die hat den Auspuff auch rechts unten) geastet und mir mehrmals ein Loch in die Schnittschutzhose gebrannt. Außerdem ist die Abgasbelastung wesentlich höher. Von der Durchzugskraft dieser kleinen Säge bei dickeren Ästen ganz zu schweigen."

It seems to me that the combination of the MS 200 rear/right exhaust outlet, and rear handle design somehow creates health hazards when used as a limbing saw. I dont quite get why, though:dizzy:

I Believe the rear handle would defeat the purpose.

That might well be the case, but this design has been sold for some time outside the USA, and Husky has recently introduced competing designs (339xp and 336), so it has to be a market for it. :Eye: :Eye:
