Hello all,
I enjoy reading the discussion on this forum and have learned quite a lot while doing so. Now a couple of questions -When I bought the saw the dealer had it put on a tach and adjusted the carb. Later ( after about 7-8 hours of cutting I noticed it bogging a little right after starting. Got okay when it warmed up. I usually let anything with motor warm up. Called dealer and he said bring it in and they reset carb because he thought it was too lean. Now I am seeing some discoloring on the plastic where the muffler outlet is. Using high octane fuel and stihl fuel mix. I run same fuel in 2 other saws and they' not doing this. IS it too rich now? Can they really adjust the Intelicarb or what?
Thanks for any and all help on this.---Kenny

OK I'm here.
Did they remove the limiter caps? May have to for a proper adjust. I have had to on a few.
Also, if the inlet lever is not the correct height, they may be tryng to compensate for it.
How does it perform? That is still the final word on carb adjustment. I have seen the discoloratrion you are talking about on a lot of Stihl saws. Never saw it as a problem or an indication of proper adjustment.
Don't let the intellicarb thing bother you. No rocket science there, just using the air pressure inside the filter on the top side of the metering diaphragm to help adjust as the filter gets dirty.
Bottom line, clean the air filter like any saw.

Thanks for the replies.
Xander, the saw is stock. I have read on here how to modify the muffler but haven't done it yet. I emailed John Walker and priced the Walkerized muffler. I'm wondering if it would be better than just altering mine for more flow. Quite a bit of money difference.
Stihltech, she runs great after warm-up. The discoloration is not a major problem just more of a nuisence. Another thing , it's not broke in yet - probably about 3 tanks of fuel used.
Over all A Great Saw. Probably need to do something about the restricted exhaust though.

Slight discoloration is normal. If the outlet is wet and the coloration is really dark and nasty it means your HS is too rich. Crap oil can also leave more residue than the good stuff.

Hi Ben, I`m not surprised that carp oil is junk, around here carp are considered junk fish. Is dino oil any better? Russ

bwalker,
I'm using Stihl oil. The coloration is very slight allright. BTW on my screen looked like you had crap oil not carp oil like jokers said.
What is considered crap oil ? I don't want to get any. Can't be Poulan cause its pretty good. Just a guy at Lowes.
