Afternoon All, Trying to help out a friend with a Stihl MS200T with a broken tank vent. I ordered the parts (see attached pic) but I'm having trouble getting out the old barbed fitting that goes in the top of the tank. I tried a drywall screw screwed into the fitting and tried to pry it up, but it seems like the tolerance is a little too tight for me to be able to pry it out. Any of you great minds have any tricks to get this done? Thanks in advance for your help !!DSCN1647.JPGDSCN1648.JPG

Have you tried grinding off the tip of the drywall screw off? It should get a better bite.
I am not familiar with what you are working on. Does the vent want to rotate when you try to thread into it?

Could you cut head off with dremel and let it drop into tank?
That would certainly be a quick way to destroy the tank. There is a little nipple molded into the tank in the recessed area where OP’s vent hose sheared off. Inside the tank a wee rubber flapper fits into the underside of the nipple.

I believe it's a #6 sheet metal screw. Screw it into the old barb. Lock the head of the screw in a vice and pull on the tank. Prying will almost always damage the tank.

Here is what is in the mechanic's manual.
God bless you, I knew there were some very resourceful people on this site. I'll try the screw trick in the broken barb and chuck it in a vise to see if that gets it. I'll be back and let you know the progress !! Thanks again !!

Thank you all so very much for all your help. I'm off to the races to see if I can get this thing back up and going. I'll keep you informed, and again thanks to all who have helped !!

Due to the combined intelligence on this board, the MS200T is back up and running. I threaded a screw in the old broken vent, locked the screw head in a vise and pulled like I was a 13 y/o boy. Again, thank you all for your help !!!DSCN1649.JPG

Practical knowledge, yes. Intelligence, not so much.
