I have a Stihl MS250 that I have been working on, I removed the flywheel and noticed that the key is sheared. I could easily remove what was left of the key on the shaft but can't seen to remove what's left in the flywheel, is the key made right in the flywheel and can not be removed or does it comes out. Thanks!

Clean off any transfer on the shaft then just align it and torque it back to spec. It’s for timing, the taper holds it in position.
Im going to put a new flywheel on it, I figure if I just put it back on without a key it might slip and get out of time. Thanks everyone for your help.

Honestly you’re wasting your money, again, that key is timing, not to hold it in position. The taper is there to hold it. Either way, your saw :)
