Can anyone tell me if there is a yellow chain for my ms311 with 20 inch bar? It came with the green one that cuts like a dull butterknife. I bought the yellow one for my ms250 and it made a huge difference.

Yes yellow chain readily available. Look at the side of your bar. I'm thinking probably .050 gauge, .375 pitch, 72 drive links. Your main choices will be full chisel RS and semichisel RM if you stay with Stihl chain I think. Stihl chain cost more than most and personally I think it is worth it. I actually buy Stihl chain from ebay for about 2/3 of my dealers price. Others may vary of course.

Round Grind /File 33RS72 (Very common, Dealer should have tons of pre-made loops in stock)
Square Grind / File 33RSLK72 ( Less popular, but very fast. Dealer may have to make from roll or order from Stihl)
Both are .050 ga., 3/8 pitch, 72 drive link "yellow" chain.

You might look at Oregon LGX chain. I have been using it for 2 or so years and find that it works well, stays sharp and costs less.
