Yes, it's a great versatile saw with a proven durability record.
The Husky 372XP would be its main competition and alternative, among a few others (Dolmar, Jonsered). Take your pick. I run them both, with a slight preference for the 372XP. One could argue that the Husky vibrates less and is a bit easier to turn wrenches on, and that it cuts a bit faster than a 440, but they are close enough that personal preference might easily trump any of these details.
