Hi, I'm new here and I thought I'd ask about experiences with accessory cylinder sets for the stihl 660, which I bought broken, I haven't received the saw yet, so I haven't been able to disassemble and check the extent of the damage. , I'm from Finland and in Germany there would be a shop called sägenspezi but there are 4 different cylinder sets for that saw model so are there any experiences with these?, I know that the parts in question are probably made in China but I built one 026 model with the cylinder of that shop and at least it worked. Bigger saws are new to me. This saw in question would be used to split wood, so I need more torque from the engine than the revolutions, gaskets and possibly the crankshaft bearings, I was thinking of putting them as oem parts. I installed caber tires on the 026 I made, but I don't know where to find them for this saw, if the original cylinder can be salvaged, I'll use it. I would be grateful if someone could find me a workshop manual for the stihl ms660 model. Sorry for my bad English, I have to use a translator.

It is no different than the 026.. Hopefully you can get the cylinder of the MS660 clean of aluminum transfer with no damage to the plating. Replacing the crankshaft bearings with Caber is fine, if you can get them.
If the big end rod bearing on the crankshaft is bad then you pretty much have to replace the crankshaft, unless you are Houdini or something.

If you try to do it with Stihl OEM your wallet will suffer. Meteor makes good pistons.. I have had no problem with Chinese crank shafts.

Hopefully a good cylinder cleaning and a Meteor or OEM piston will get you going.

What is special about changing crankshaft bearings? Or did you mean connecting rod? 026 could at least change the crankshaft bearings themselves.

I said Caber bearings. That was a mis speak , not even sure they make bearings.

I meant that the rebuild would be the same, I doubt there is much beside the spark plug that would be interchangeable.

You mentioned crankshaft bearings in the OP. If you replace them you can get OEM, a name brand like SKF.
If the big end bearing on the crankshaft allows the rod to tilt either way noticeably the only option is to replace the entire crankshaft.

Chinese bearings can be $15 US on eBay etc. up to $55 OEM.
You can buy a Chinese crankshaft, bearings and all for $75 .
Just have to decide what you need to replace. And, whether you want to do OEM or aftermarket.
 
Did you check out the farmertec part saw kits? They call that saw a g660 not an ms660.
You could buy a complete kit saw and use what you need out of the kit pretty cheaply.
I know, but delivery to Finland costs more than 100 dollars plus other costs. the idea would be to make the saw as reliable as possible, until I get the saw for myself and check the damage

here are pictures of my previously built mast 026, the cylinder in the pictures was cleaned with hydrochloric acid and blown with soda

many thanks for the help. I'll get back to it when I can dismantle the saw and if I need help. I'm going to at least open the muffler and cut 1/3 of the flywheel wedge off and advance the ignition. any other suggestions for improvement? can the air intake be improved in these saws?

Check hsparts.de. They should sell pretty much all the Chinese clone parts, but you don't have to wait 10 weeks and pay 100€ for shipping and customs.
Pfeifferer shop has all OEM parts for decent prices, but their customer service and shipping sucks BALLS.
Bearings and seals I buy at 123kugellager.de. They're french, and their over night shipping is not over night. But their website is decent enough to actually find stuff.

Thanks, this works well for removing aluminum. I'm waiting for the parts I ordered, I ordered bearings, impulse hose, fuel hose and oem seals. the piston is a meteor
