does any one know hoa good of a saw this is I was offered 2 of these "1 for parts " for 75 they look very used is this a deal

041

With out more specific information this is hard to answer. I own a 041. 1974 vintage. I bought it used and put a carb kit in it. I will never get rid of it. A dam good saw if properly maintaned.Yes some new ones are lighter and wind up faster but this saw will get the job done.I would go for it!

My local dealer told me today that a 280 is a better saw then the 260 pro why would he say this other then the 280 has just a little more power

Good question...the 260 is used a lot in the industry. Might have a better anti vibe system(one of teh complaints I've heard about teh 026/260 series). 041s are highly thought of here, for $75 you can't go wrong, you could make that back in parts on evil bay if you had to. If one is a runner it's gravy. If I had one I'd want to see if it could have a chainbrake added,a s I don't liek cutting without these anymore,
J.D.

I have been told form people on this forum that the 260 is a great saw but the dealer told me that he think they might discontinue it bc the price is so high but he goes right of the retail sheet most in myarea dont @ gander I can get low 400s
