which would you buy?a stihl ms460 or a husky 575xp.im a nonpro user and occasionally must cut some 30" or bigger wood,it will have a 25" bar and a stihl chain no matter which saw i get.thanks:popcorn:

yes and the 575 is a nice saw.Not sure but id you like Stihl i got a new 441 and love it

Between the two, the 460 with the factory dual-port muffler cover seems to be the clear choice. Do a search for 575 and you'll see a list of concerns about that model which tend to militate in favor of the 460. Obviously dealer support would be a consideration to factor in when making a final choice, but your question only inquired as to the saw v. saw issue.

That said, I'd eagerly take a Dolmar 7900 over either of those saws for all the reasons that the 7900 gets so regularly praised. Best saw out there in the 70-90cc range, and outcuts the 460 and 575 by a goodly margin without weighing more or costing more

Them's fighting words....

Actually, I'd get the 460. I like old and proven over new and unknown. The 575 may just turn out to be a really great saw, but I KNOW that the 460 already is.

Call it "Oldsaw logic".

i think the 460/575xp comparison isn't really apples to apples. i think a 441/575xp would be more comparable. I like the balance of the 441 better than the 460. On a side note, I love getting to screw around with saws that I would never otherwise need to use living in an apartment. I have this wish list of equipment at our store that I have used and want to buy, but can't justify it unless i went into business for myself or bought a house LOL.

i'm leaning towards the stihl, but it will be my first stihl,i figger its a good saw but its at a dealer and the husky is at a farm supply with no support!i can work on and modify it myself but i was just wondering.thanks for the input:popcorn:

I say you really need to run both saws yourself.

If a person didn't mind the buzz of a 460, I don't see how they would not be happy with one and it's a time proven classic.

I sometimes cut for extend periods almost non stop, and I am sensitive to vibration levels. So as much as I like and respect the 460, I've never quite bought one because the vib levels get to my hands after a while (I've borrowed them, though, and run then a fair bit). I've not run a 575 much, but they are smoother by a fair bit, while using alot less fuel. I've never bought a 575 because of the weight and reports of reliability issues, at least in the early models. I think the reports may be somewhat overstated, but I was still hesitant, though.

I am in a monirity (as usual), but I personally would buy a 441 over a 460 because although it is not as strong it is so smooth. And I would buy a 390 over a 575. But I ended up with a couple of 7900s which I prefer yet performance wise.

The only 30"+ trees I can remember in Moses Lake is poplar.
