Yes, links to sites like that should not be in the open forum, when it is about Stihl. They have been known to hunt them down, and have them shut down....:rolleyes2:

Stunts like that on a MFR's part make me seriously consider dropping use of their products.
True they may have their reasons, but do we see every other MFR doing the same?
Anyone know what Stihl's Reasoning for this is? (Aside looking like they are trying to prevent Owner Repair etc)
If they Say it's EPA Related I'm going Call BS on that right now.

STIHL saws are unique. I look and look at other saws but I always like STIHL better. I wish they would make a few improvements, especially clean air entry for the filter and filter mounting.

The main reason is protection of the dealer network. They want repair/parts money going to the dealer network.

How id you go with your search for a service / parts breakdown manual for the 084. Ive just purchased one and would like to restore it to as close to new as possible, saw runs just needs some tlc. If you ended up coming across one if you could point me in the direction of how to obtain one.
