I did a search but couldn't find what I was looking for.

My question is this on the Stihl parts list, under the description it has a check box and a range of numbers. What does this refer to? Is it the different models in that series?

Does it refer to the references at the bottom of the page?

If I am right in those assumptions, and I have an 038 Magnum,
does that correspond to number 6?
does that mean I could use any of the three parts:
1119 350 0850
1119 350 0822
1119 350 0823
Help please, and thanks

Well...this is my contribution.

In pic #1 1119 350 0850 includes items #1 and #3 thru 29
1119 350 0822 includes items #3 thru #7

The references on the bottom of the page refer to which model of saw such as a magnum, super, wrap handle, heated handles, etc.

Howdy,
In this particular instance it's telling you which items you get per part number. For instance, with the first number 1119 350 0850 you're going to get item 1, and items 3-29.

+1

It's like learning to read a bus or train schedule for another city - the first time you look at it, it can be very confusing, but after a while, it becomes obvious.

Some parts you can buy as a single piece, say a cylinder gasket. But you also might be able to buy a 'kit' that includes that gasket, plus a case gasket, muffler gasket, oil seals, etc.

Or, you might want just a piston ring (1 part), but someone else wants the piston, rings, wrist pin, cir-clips, etc.

Your photo also shows how there may be different parts for similar models -e.g. different countries, different carbs, with or without heated handles, etc.

Yup and yup. There's your answers, Popeye1!

Well, at least you could find a spare parts list for your saw! I looked on ebay and googled looking for one for a ms 261 and no luck! I don't think Stihl sells them to the public and the dealer wasn't any help. I did find a service manual though! They are a must have! Any of you 261 guys find one?

Post that you want one in the Beg for Manuals thread. It is one of the stickies. You will probably have the .pdf within an hour or two.
