So, I'm new to the forum and new to looking for parts for a stihl ms 180 c-be online. Not having trouble with regular parts, them I find googling. I'm looking for the plate that goes over the blade and has the bar tension adjustment in it. I'd love to be able to find someone with an online fiche where I could look at the parts diagram for the saw and say which part number I need but I can't seem to find any place online. I figured the folks hangin out around here would probably know better than anybody. Thanks for any help in advance.

Welcome Jimnator. I usually go to jackssmallengines.com he has parts diagrams. then i take the number to my dealer

Thanks for the info. Checked jackssmallengines.com and they only have parts diagrams for Husqy, Homelite, Poulan, and Stens Aftermarket stuff. I thought I had checked there. Still trying to find Stihl parts diagrams. Or even just the part number on the cover. Hope I don't have to buy a whole saw to scavenge the cover.

Mike, Many thanks! I knew somebody around here would be able to help.

Jimnator, sorry friend, I went to jackssmall engines and aftere you click on chainsaw parts, at the bottom right of the screen is a small window that says something like "online manufacturer diagram parts look up" when you go to that you can look up factory part # for individual saws but your correct stihl is not included. I must have missed it due to my narrow minded husqvarna thinking:biggrinbounce2: ! After all huskies are the best........ well, mine are......... because they're mine........:hmm3grin2orange: just kiddin'! god forbid we start another saw bashin thread on here! But if you ever find yourself in the possession of a husky i've found it invaluable espacially when I'm doin the dreaded e-bay online parts search!

Ahhhh a prophet! :D
Hey don't worry about Jacks, it's cool and like you said you were huskified.
I have a buddy that is a small engine mechanic and he won't anything but a Husky (dude is really feaked over Husky motorcycles) and another friend that is a fellow handyman who does tree work also. He swears by Husky and has 2 but also says that stihl is good and has their pole saw. It's pretty nice but finding parts for a stihl has not been fun (except here that is  ) and I don't think I'll buy one unless I know it's a very new saw and it's dirt cheep or something. Ortherwise, I've already been to the local farm and ranch store and drewlled on a few huskys. :p
I know... it's only a matter of time.:rockn:

OH and btw, I own 2 saws and the stihl I'm fixin is for a buddy.:D
But being a handyman and fond of "the right tool for the job", I still (<--pun) plan to get me a Husky to go with my little Poulans. I figure it's time to own a working saw and not a casual use saw.
Thanks again for all the great help and advise.
This forum definitely knows it's saw dust.
