Ok so I was underbrushing some of my jungle today

And my stupid visor kept falling off my helmet. The little plastic holder were broken on 2 of the 4 posts.

Now seeing as it is over a year old and the hole in the front is getting bigger I figured it was time to get a new one.

I stopped at the stihl dealer and priced the visor and the grip and they were $27.00 Canadian and it was not in stock.

A complete new helmet was in their flyer for $39.00 and it has a little black cap on the peak.

Why is that for a few bucks more I always seem to be able to get a new tool then paying to replace the parts the are broken?

But the best part is the fellow who sold me the 260 asked me what saws I had.

I said the 260 and a 660. He asked me who made the 660.

I was nice and told him that is was made by Stihl!

Now this was the dealer that would only sell the 660 for full retail so I bought it at another dealer.

No it doesnt look anything like the Euro helmet. The sides on the Euro are different with different muffs and the front is different.

It looks like the older Stihl forestry helmets we sell from Stihl NE

Those are sold here in Sweden too as "Stihl" helmets :)
I like the Peltor muffs better then the ones on the husky helmet, but like the husky helm better ,,, hmm one i never satisfied i guess :(

Is the cap detachable ??
I had one on my Husky helmet but removed it, was in the way when looking up the tree when you felled it ,,

.

It's because nobody wants to sell you the parts to fix anything. There's more profit in selling you a new one. Just like if your 3 year-old TV dies. The cost to fix it will likely run as much if not more than what it would cost to replace it. Sadly, we've become a throw-away society because it is in the best interests of the commercial sector.

All the parts for the version sold in the USA are available.. and the little side parts are cheap. We stock them...

No the cap is integrated into the visor as one piece.

I had a similar problem with a differently designed Stihl visor falling apart at the visor "hinge". And then was told I had to buy the whole visor ($$) and could not just buy the hinge parts or whatever they are called.

I was able to glue the plastic pieces together and that is working.

These hats get thrown in the back of pickups, etc. They need a more strudy design if you ask me!

Most dealers don't have a clue that the little parts for the visor and the suspension are actaully listed in their dealer support manual...

Where can I get the little plastic peices for a husq peltor helmet?
