Tree Monkey,

I noticed you posted earlier that the 280 was a nice saw and now that the 270 was a nice saw. What are the good points of the 270 and what problems have you had with yours ?

if you can, put a 290,270, 280,and a 260 side by side. pice each one up, 290 is heavy for its power. start each saw, 270and 280 start better, smoother, and quieter, better throttle responce. cut with each saw. 290 is slow, 270 and 260 cut about the same, 280 faster.look at price, 290, 270, 280 , 260. keep an open mind and i think you will think thay are nice saws.

only time will tell how well thay hold up, but no one will know if no one buys them. we have not had any problems with any yet.

I vote for the 260, it is likely the 270/280 are not as well made,
as the 290 is inferior as well. I have not worked on either the
270 or the 280 yet, but I am not expecting much.

Scott.

I ran the 270 last fall. The factory rep said the 280 would be the same basic saw. I only got demo it for a short time. I could not make a judgement. I thought since you said it was a good saw maybe you had ran one long enough to find out. I really do not care how well it starts and runs in the beginning. It is the longevity that concearns me. I will buy them when they have proven themselves.
