For all intent and purposes the two shrouds are almost identical and certainly interchangable, even with the 260 Pro. The only problem you run into with upgrading an 026 is if you try to put on the newer model air filter, then you have to have a later model air filter cover. But the front shroud is interchangable on the 026/026 Pro and the 260 Pro.

026 pro shroud

What about the decomp valve, is there enough clearance at the top so the regular/stock 026 shroud will fit?? Thanks.

Hi Fishhuntcutwood, the cover i have does not have the hole in it for the decomp valve. There are some on e-bay and Baileys site here at AR which are indentical to the one i have for the Stihl 026.

I knew it! But I didn't want to say definitively and then have someone like Andy come through and correct me. (Yeah, that's never happened...) But I was sure I'd seen them without. The IPL I have is a newer one, and Stihl has a way of just forgetting old parts when new ones have superceded them, which is why the new IPL doesn't list the non-port shroud.

Doc-do you have a decomp valve? You were asking about clearance, but your shroud doesn't have the port. I'm guess you put a new cylinder on? If so, don't mess with regular shroud. It might fit, I don't know, but just do it right and get one with the port. Have you asked Dean and Curt on here? They're site sponsors and each have a bunch of Stihl parts. Both are good to deal with as well. I've bought from both.

Yes i have checked both as you now know, i am waiting to see if someone has one used. I can buy new for $50 cdn but thats abit too much to spend on the saw since i have just spent on a new cylinder, new decomp valve and new piston. I will wait til i get my items than see if it'll fit without a mod to the cover/shroud.

Are they used or new? I prefer a used one as i don't wish to spend too much more on this saw, i have bought a new piston/cylinder kit for $110 US recently and am awaiting it to arrive. Do you also have a piston for the 026? cost?? Please let me know.
