Has anybody used (or is using) a Stihl RMC or RSC chain? I saw some on e-bay and was wondering how they perform.

The RSC cut just like an RS (excellent). Supposed to be smoother but never really did a side by side comparison...

I think SawTroll uses RSC. He'll be on here later tonight. From what I've read, he likes it.

Yes, i do use it, and I do like it. I doubt if there are any better 3/8" chain out there, but I cannot prove it. Easy to file, holds the edge slightly better than Oregon LP (subjective opinion).

Like Lakeside, I have never compared it directly to the RS though, but it sure is smoother than regular RM in the cut, even though it cuts faster.

The 36RSC is standard issue on most of the larger Stihl saws over here.:)

The last time I looked, the RSC was available in 3/8" only, and the RMC in .325.

The antivibe feature seem copied from Oregon LP, VP etc - and there is also a version called RSC3, where Stihl even has copied the kickback reducing tie straps from those Oregon chain, making it look almost identical to Oregon LP.
I wonder if a few Oregon controlled patents have ran out lately......

Thanks guys for the info. Most of the firewood i'll be cutting will be downed stuff and most likely a little dirty, so i'll be trying the Stihl RM or RMC chain (right now I use the RM2 chain that came with my MS 260). Might get a spare RS or RSC chain for if I get into some standing timber.

Sounds like a good plan, KMB!
I keep RM as backup for dirty wood, but most of my wood is clean birch, so I seldom use it.

The RS and I guess RSC would hold it's edge just fine in the blowdowns as long as you don't cut into the dirt. Go chisel and you'll never go back!

I have used RM and RS chains and have observed that in the case of small diameter wood ca up to 8"-10" in diameter RS has no noticeable speed advantage over RM chain. Moreover, RS is much more prone to hitch to the wood and more kickbacking one. RM is much more comfortable to use:)
