Stihl Saw Model???? (added pic)

I recentley bought an older stihl saw from a local pawn shop for 10$ and I need to get a part for it. It is not getting a spark.
The top plate where the model name is located is worn off so I dont know exactly what I have. The seriel number is 4537730 and it has a 20 inch bar. Any help in this matter would be greatly helpful

Thx

From the pic it looks like a 041. Find some part numbers and list the first four digits. They are the series number and will tell you what seriesit belongs to The number will begin with an 11. If it is a 041 then the series number is 1110.

If you post the part series number we can nail down the model for you. As for value anywhere from $0 - $150 in my opinion. There was real nice 041 that sold on ebay last weel for I believ $275. I am not sure if yours is a 041 but iy does look like one. The part number will nail it down.

It looks like somethings missing from that saw.

Can't...quite ....put ...my ...finger ... on it.

Oh well. It'll come to me! :p

i knew i had a saw that looked similar to the one in the picture. i dug around and found it. much to my surprise it clearly says STIHL 041. that of couarse does not mean that is what it is but a place to start. marty

That's an 041. $10 is a steal. Certainly looks as if you need to get the front handlebar. Call Ron's saw shop 1-800-433-6304 for parts. Great people, good prices, and everybody knows their stuff. Got a brand new Mag. muffler for my 056 for $20.

I just checked and there is a handlebar on ebay.

I reread your post and saw that you weren't getting spark. Before you dump money into an ignition, check all the connections, check that the wires aren't grounding, clean the module off (I think the 041 is electronic), try a known good plug.

Those old ignition units can be hard to get.

041

Yep, an 041, the original Farm Boss. No antivibe, but will cut a lot of wood for a long time. 3.7 cubic inch. Runs a 20 inch bar just fine. Have people come to tears when these saws finally are worn out.

See what you need for parts, lots of them around. Loctite all crews. Check to see if tab on motor case under lower front muffler mount is still intact. If not, you will have a heck of a time keeping it together.
These are the saws I learned on. Still work on at least one or two a month.

screws

Loctite all screws. Use the blue stuff.

Unless your crews are a little loose, then loctite them also. Just stay away from the alcohol-based stuff, just makes them looser.:D

WoW thanks for all the help from everyone. I think there is a concern about the handle. But infact i actualy do have it lol. I had the saw in pieces minutes before i took the picture. So i just whipped the bar on and had my brother take a quick pic. Thx again for all the advice i be busy today trying to pinpoint that spark problem. I think im becoming a chainsaw junkie i missed a
nearrly new 017 last night for 75$ needed a handle. I figured it could replace my underpowered wamart homelite LOL
