i'm new here so i'll give a short background.i bought an old stihl 045 avs (locked up) at the flea market about 6 months ago.dealer said nearly $400 to fix.took it home and tore it down.i filed the piston and inside the cylinder with a very fine emory board.bought new rings,gaskets,and cleaned the daylights out of it.pulled a few times and it came to life.i was hooked on stihl chainsaws.that same dealer has since given me 2 old 045s(i think mid 70s) for parts.well i'm trying to get them running.i've got the engines together but stihl need parts.i found this site and saw wow-these guys are the pros.i guess what i really want to know is will parts off other models fit mine ?i.e.-carbs, sprocket covers,fan housings,handle frames.thanks for any info you can throw at me
