Just replaced the Cylinder/piston on a friends Stihl, he heard a "click" and the saw stopped running. Saw tested out at 50 psi compression, so I ordered a kit from Huztl. The rings had worn thin and broke, ruining the piston and cylinder, concrete dust is murder on these things. What is the normal compression on a newer saw? It was very difficult to start without the decomp.

Are you saying it's hard to start without using the decompression valve because of high compression?
A TS420 is nothing compared to a TS700 or TS800 in good condition.

The later TS420's don't have a deco valve, but they come with an elastostart from the factory.
The elastostart's that have the black rope are tops in my book.

Hey I think my model doesn’t have a decompression valve. I’ve looked all over can’t seem to find it. are You supposed to just crank on the ripcord if its elastostart or do You think it’s better to pull a bit out And then start
