From what I have been able to find out the homie750 (cool saw) is 112cc and rated at 6.96 hp. at 8000rpm.No load rpm is 11-12,000 rpm.Bore is 2.25"and stroke is 1.720".
The 088 is 121cc and rated at 8.6 hp. I don't have rpm or bore and stroke figures available for the stihl.
On paper this looks like a clear win on the part of the stihl.(assuming same bar length and equal chains and users)However not being able to compare the stroke figures the homie could have a possible torque advantage.Who knows for sure? But i'd sure wanna watch that race!(regardless of winner)

The homelite is 1 lb. haevier than the stihl.(I just gotta point out the important stuff ya know)

Luv me them big ol saws:D

It can still hang with it.
Dam nice piece of machinery and watch out for the old "hp ratings". 750 is stronger than one would think with that long stroke.

There's your extra pound.

Lots of folks here love the old Homelites...and even their old consumer saws were decent...for work or play...milling or racing? I would use an old Homie or Mac but in the work environment, it seems that a chainbrake is a must...and I don't think these came with that or can be retrofitted.

I suspected this might be the case.My xp1000 always suprises me and it's got 12cc less displacement than the 750 so I have to believe that it must be avery strong saw.:D

old strong saws for ever!!!:)
