I was just wondering, if a tree blows over and hits a house (or any structure) and in the process of removing it you cause more damage to the structure, is it your fault or will the insurance co. not worry about it because it was an act of god that put the tree against the house. The reason i'm asking is a few months ago we had a pretty nasty storm and a maple tree split/broke at the base and rested against the house. I couldn't get to it in time so another tree co. did it. In the process of removing it the rolled off the house, putting a couple holes in the roof, tearing the gutters, got some siding......... but i was just wondering who was responsible for paying for the extra damage. On one hand, yes it's the tree co.s fault, but on the other hand they didn't lean the tree against the house either. Maybe this is a simple question, but i was just thinking about it today and wondered who would end up paying for it.
