:confused: I have recently aquired a saw that I have never seen before. The saw is not a chain saw but it is evidently made for cutting firewood. The saw is called Super Rebel Wright Saw Model GS 4520. It is manufactured by Wright Power Saw & Tool Comporation a subsidirary of Thomas Industries Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The Saw is of good size and gold in color. The mechanical part about this saw is that instead of a chain, the teeth on the bar slide back and forth on the botom of the main bar. The main bar is 16" or 18" in length and attached to the body of the saw. The teeth are worked by a piston. I have ran numerous saws in my life but have never seen anything like this. I would like any information or discusion that is out there. Thank you Walter.

Wright GS 4520 Blade Saw

Hi Walter, Your saw is 7.06 CI, bore 2.500", stroke 1.4375", max gov speed 4800-5200 RPM, manufactured 1958, compression 75 PSI new, 60 PSI min,weight with bar and guide 24 LB. That info came out of a shop manual. You need to get this saw running so you can have something different to show your friends. It has a Tillotson carb, so parts are still available. The govenor set up is unusual ,but works well. Be careful not to put too much strain on the blade if you get it bound in a cut. The tab that holds it in place on the bar is a weak link and blades are scarce. When cutting, always keep the saw motor against the wood or you and the saw will go back and forth and the blade will stick in the wood.

WOW!

The amount of information available from this collection of people is absolutely amazing!

Looking forward to seeing a few pics of your collection, Larry. Perhaps even a website? ;)

My friend and I dug one of these saws out of his old building over the winter. Haven't had a chance to get it running yet. No spark, and the starter recoil is broken.

What shop manual has info of this saw?

Wright saw

Hi Chris;
If you can give us the model number, I will see what info I have on the saw.
The Shop Manual in question came from an old dealers auction and covers the Wright line of saws.
Old manuals are always at the top of the list, for me, whenever available.
