Which is the best stump grinder the vermeer 50 or the Rayco 50?

JT, are you referring to the RG50 by Rayco, and the 50TX by Vermeer? I have used the RG50 by Rayco... nice machine. I think the key with that machine would be the dozer blade. If you aren't concerned with the dozer blade... go with the 50TX. The 50TX is MUCH more manueverable, has lower ground pressure, and is more mobile. When I was using the RG50 I found that it didn't have the best traction. It works well, don't get me wrong... but I think that the tracks on the Vermeer would be better. However you have to factor in that the Rayco doesn't have tracks which can be taken off if you catch them on a stump or something while turning. I do believe also that the new Rayco's have not 50hp, but they now have 66 hp diesels.

skid steer stump grinder

Instead of a stand alone stump grinder I was considering adding a skid steer stump grinder to a high flow skid steer. Anyone have experience with these?

If you care I am getting ready to sell my RG 50 demo with trailer. It only has a little over 100hrs. It is a great machine and comes with full warranty. I need to get a new RG50 for demo since the hp and some other features have changed.

Stumper on a skidder is good for many operations, but you will still have the problem of getting into many residential areas.

I've used both units, and the Vermeer tracked unit beats all 50hrs SP models hands down. Manauver, cutting hight satbility in a plie of grindings.

The only drawbakc is the learning curve in running it across wet lawns.

Just out of curiosity.....is it worth the extra few thousand bucks for the Vermeer??? We sell the Rayco, but I have never used the Vermeer. Can you provide more info. I use the Rayco regularly and am soo impressed.
