I am considering starting a small stump business and am looking at a 2007 rayco 1625a jr, it also has the factory trailer with it.the unit has 165 hrs on it and appears to be very well cared for,i can buy it for 10500.00 how does that price sound, also any tips ,warnings or other ideas would be greatly appreciated, are there many known issues with this type of grinder.

Dan I had a stumper once and sold it. I shouldn't have but live and learn. The stumper you mentioned sounds good but can't comment more than that. What you need to ask yourself is how much work are you going to do with it. How long till you make the money back? and could you sub out the work and still make alittle. Also if the guy is asking 10500 I would go with 8000. The smaller stumpers I find are under powered. And I find that I was standing around for long periods which drove my nuts. Good luck and post pics if you can.

Not sure how big the stumper you're looking at is but you're going to have to either do a hell of a lot of stumps to make your money back or do the stumps that no one else wants. I would never get a stumper to make money, I have one and I use it, but its more for the total package sale then to generate income.

the 1625 is a good machine.if your just starting out i would't pay that kind of money. look for an older machine for about 4-5,000.it will hold that value so you can trade it in for a bigger machine if you do well.good luck
