how much do you normally charge for stump removal? how much do you charge by the inch?

By the square inch is only accurate way.

If you go by the the inch across, you'll get burned.
Because a 48" stump is 4 times as bigh as a 24" stump.

Take the radius squared x 3.14 or pie to get the square inches.

I like to get 25 to 35 cents per square inch just to grind below grade.

Anyone know this guy? His rates are pretty cheap. $1.50 and inch? I certainly will leave the grinder in the shop for that amount.

Maybe he needs to pay some fines/court costs, $1.50 an inch is crazy, break 1 tooth and your at $15-$17 for a stump! there is a guy out my way who is similar, I cant stand him!

He`s like a vulture just waiting for a tree service to do a removal & then he swoops in & bids the stump real cheap, I try to include the stump into my bids so that I get the total job, this guy doesnt climb, run a bucket...does nothing but grind stumps!! just a cheap leach!! & ruining the biz.

By the inch vs square inches

Do you realize a 48" stump is 4 times as much to grind as a 24" stump?
30" stump is not twice but 4 times as a 15" stump.

Numbers multiple quickly on large stumps unless you only grind little stumps.

Then I wonder how deep to grind to be normal.
