Anybody here subcontract for power companies when storms come? Our local electric co-op office is just up the road and when storms come they don't have the support from"big orange" so they brinng in residential companies with buckets from all over the state to help get the lines cleared. Just wondering if anybody has done this, is it profitable? Or are you busy enough when storms come to say screw that? I thought it'd be a good way to make a buck in the winter when things are slow. Thanks for the input guys.

I am working with towns, state, power, phone and cable companies. The key is to get involve BEFORE fices hit the fan. Start talking to them now. May be by September you get some deals. One more think - make sure all your equipment are certify, inspected and OSHA inspection ready. Your insurance should be 2,000,000 and workers comp is MUST.
What county are you in?
Good luck.

I have 3 guys on standby at night. we go after down trees a lot. last one was on sunday. not just for the power company but for local towns and municipalities.

if the tree is down and even if its a monster we can usually have the road open in less than half hour from time of arrival.

our ability to move stuff quickly has greatly helped. We where being dispatched by 911 on the last big snow storm we had.

our k-boom is going in to be fitted with a remote control light tower. kind of like what you see on some fire trucks. it has like 36 5 million candel power lights in it and stands up 15 feet off the truck.

our old crane truck had one on it and it was the cats pajamas for night work.
