Who all made the trip out in the blizzard? Oh that's right... Good job, Matt.

So everyone knows, Matt has a heart that wouldn't fit in three people. He drove all over New England to help a friend this weekend, and he still says thank you to me. We had a great time seeing Shigo.

Some things we talked about.....
- Trees in Winter - He wrote an article in TCI recently about trees in winter, and he naturally spent a lot of time talking about it and showing us things under the microscope. If you haven't me him, Dr. Shigo is incredible, especially with a microscope and a sample of mycorrhizae. Most people over 75 are starting wind down, but Dr. Shigo is gearing up and excited as ever about new finds.

- Philosophy - Just to warn Matt, I told him Dr. Shigo is 60% philosophy, 40% trees. Maybe I was off....it's a little more philosophy in that mix. Anyways, it showed that there's a lot more to learn about in life than just trees. I'll share some of his quotes later.

Buenas noches,

Nickrosis

Nick, I should have said this the other day. I am not happy that you picked up the hotel both nights. I had planned on paying for my share, but each time I went for my wallet at the hotels you had already beat me to it. Also the food, Saturday night at the pizza place.. I was planning on buying my own food. I was not expecting for you to pick up the tab on that too. I only have one person who I allow to do that (pick up most of the tabs) and I am sorry to say... it is not you.

Matt,

Maybe you can look at Nick's generosity as repayment for what Nick terms your "devotion". All that driving up and down the east coast and waiting in airport terminals being profiled and shadowed by security.;) Everything evens out in the end.

Mike the thing is though... I did all that without even thinking twice about it... because I know that Nick would have done the same for me. I just wish he would have let me pick up my own tabs :( One meal would have been more than enough... but the hotel both nights, and 2 meals... I think that is being more than generous. The person who I let pick up most of the tabs.. the reason I do that... is because I do a TON of stuff for him and never ask for anything in return other than a bunch of meals.

You both sound very generous. Like I said, it all evens out in the end(in a very large and karmically speaking sense).:)
