My sumac tree has holes in the trunk and sap running out. Some of the bark is splitting. The tree is approx 10 yrs old. Can anyone tell me what's going on with it?

Could be sapsuckers...or could be beetles...Don't know about the splitting bark, possibily some form of root rot.Pictures always help in making a proper diagnosis.

holes?... are they rot cavities or small round holes like a borer bug or a bird pecking around hit it up?... as for the cracks... young sumac trees have thin bark... it could have some frost cracks or sun scalding... are you in a drought area? is the tree dehydrated?...
