I am new to stump grinding, but now I understand the need for sharp teeth. My Super rg50 has a set of Rayco Super Teeth on it now and they are very dull. A big 40 to 50 inch hardwood stump is no fun with less then sharp teeth. So my question is, the Greenteeth look and sound great because I can get set-up to sharpen them myself and they can be turned to a new sharp edge. Has anyone ever gone back to Rayco Super teeth after going to Greenteeth and is there any down side of using Greenteeth? One more thing, should I get the 900 series or the 1100 series? Thanks, Joe

Hi Joe,

Green Teeth are very good when sharp. You could setup your wheel with Green Teeth as the main cutters and Super Teeth as the cleanouts. Green Teeth recommends the 900 series and I have plenty in stock.

Hope this helps!

I used to maintain a small fleet (12-15) stump grinders. Had an RG66 among them. The rest were smaller. I used the Super Teeth as cleanouts on the smaller Rayco grinders (25hp) and regular square teeth as primarys. We tried using the Super Teeth on the RG66 and it would just destroy them. On a smaller grinder, the Super Teeth can usually be sharpened several times not so much with the 66. Switched the entire wheel to Greenteeth and never looked back. They are more robust, and seemed to survive the horsepower a lot better. The concave carbide on the Greenteeth seemed to cut faster and smoother as well. Keep a bag of extra nuts for the Greenteeth on the job with you. You'll need 'em because they'll get boogered up pretty good and don't always make it to the third tightening. Time is money and it's worth it to have a tooth that you can basically get three "changes" out of and throw away. Plus, used to be able to get the carbide discs for them and torch off the old one and cement a new one on. Been out of that game for a few years so that might have changed.

Hope this helps.

I ones had a guy who ran RG's tell me that Green Teeth didn't work on his units. I never understood why not but he said he tried them and they just didn't cut well.
Personally I put them on everything I can.
