Been spending some time splitting everyday on the SS using a hydraulic conveyor and was thinking of how jrider works cranking out 100 cord with little equipment, leaving long six foot high windrows of split wood.

First: Take the leg and wheels out from under the engine and put them under the table. Fab a wagon steer axle and tongue for under the engine. Add a receiver hitch under the table to hook a hydraulic powered conveyor w/gas engine. Plumb the conveyor with auxillary hydraulic quick couplers for a log lift that you can add on a now very stable splitter. Add ten acres and pull with quad, garden tractor, or whateve

Edit: theoretically (spelling?)

So you are gassing up 2 engines?

Why not use the engine that's already on the SS and add a hydro pump? It wouldn't have to be that big as it's only doing 1 cylinder and the cycle time is low.

Yes, the splitter and conveyor are each powered. Your idea would work great, and actually be better as a stand alone splitter and log lift. I use my SS with a conveyor, which is already running a hydraulic pump. Adding a valve and hoses would probably slow or stop the belt when used unless a double pump was used. On the TW-6 activating the log lift or four-way height slows or stops the cylinder return. Someday my SS will have four wheels under it. Truth be told a log lift on an SS would either be in the way or on the wrong side. With the TW there is room to stand next to it and operate the machine.

I think you need to look more into a rounds trailer that slopes to your power split. The power split does a great job doing what it does, don't complicate it with more stuff. I use my dump truck to stage the rounds on it and the rounds roll down onto the splitter table. I load the rounds with my tractor.
