Wait, let me get this straight-here's a tree that survived 9/11, yet the prevalent belief on this site from all the so-called arborists is that just looking at a tree while wearing spikes will cause it to shrivel up and die? Could trees actually be more resilient than these arborists preach?

But seriously, thanks for the great link md.

Only tree terrorist wear spikes while looking at trees!:)

It would have to be a Bradford pear that survived. In this area Bradfords are falling apart and have been over planted for the past twenty years.

Right-o.

I probably planted half of those Pear trees when I was in your area... ;)

Every business park in the area was planting them during the building boom of the 80's and 90's. I helped plant a crapload of them in Gwinnett County, Alpharetta, Roswell and Forsyth county.

They plant them a lot here too. They were devastated during our ice storm. They are very hardy though. I've got one that lost half of it's crown and split all the way down the trunk at my Condo complex and I have been nursing it along for three years now. It's making a great recovery.
