I know the topic of synthetic oils has been beat to death but in spite of all the info I found doing a search I could not find anything about using synthetic during break in. I finally decided to switch to mx2t. Just for the record i've always used husky xp oil and never had a problem. I just like the idea of the lack of carbon buildup associated with synthetics and the smell is a little more pleasant. Going to be purchasing a new saw soon and just wondering if it is ok to use during the break in? If not, how much regular mix should I run through it first?

Synthetic

Brent,
Like you I have used dino oil for many years. However this past winter I did some research on Amsoil. I have been using it in my 041 and 028. Both saws seem to enjoy it. The rpm's had to be lowered however the saws run like Hello! I have been monitoring the saws compression with a guage. I was a little leary of the recommended 100/1 mix ratio. So far the saws run fine. My next New saw will get nothing but pure Amsoil Synthetic from the dealers showroom.Posssibly a 357xp. Good luck and stick with the synthetics. This is one benifit of technology. Ken

No break-in required. Just start using synthetic. A quality one that is. Ken, I to have been running Amsoil in my saws as well. I use their racing 2-cycle. It's been renamed and is now called Dominator.

I also use the Dominator.
I have had great results with it.
Everybody has a brand they really like, I prefer this oil.
