Tachs on a budget

I know there are many good tachs out there but has anyone used these bargain basement ones? I really can't justify the $85 and wonder if these are workable or are just junk and are more use as motor hour usage tools than for carb adjustment?

They work however have a real slow refresh rate. I got one like that and ended up upgrading within a month.

I bought this one just to see;

He was auctioning them off a while ago and i got mine for £25 inc postage. I don't think a lot of it. The refresh rate is terrible, about 1.5 seconds for 2 strokes. It can be useful for setting the idle to factory specs (which is unecessary really) but for the high speed adjustment i just use my ear as i don't want to be running at WOT with that kind of refresh rate.
