Forget it, I am deleting this post

I don't have the patience to hear a bunch of negative b.s. on here from a bunch of self righteous people. FYI I did do my homework and there are several other outfits with the same name, and similar logos, that are in big cities throughout the U.S., so I guess they are in big trouble too...OH NO! What will we do!

I think you are asking for a "cease and desist" letter from the attorneys for the company that owns the Tarzan trademark, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc.

You'll see that letter about a week after they are made aware of your company name. (That won't take very long. They have people who do nothing but search for guys like you.)

At that point you will have two choices:

  1. Drop the name. Change all your business cards, signs, and anything else that says, "Tarzan" on it. All at your expense, of course.
  2. Fight them in court.

If you choose option 2, understand this - you will lose, and it will be expensive, and you will find yourself under court order to do #1, only it won't be an option anymore. There will be prison and fines backing it up. (It's called "Contempt of Court" when you don't obey a judge.)

I suggest you find another name for your company, and chalk this up to experience.

Won't do you a bit of good in court. They've been there, done that.

Have fun with that. Let us know how much it cost you, willya?

I guess if you don't know the difference between "self righteous" and "trying to help you avoid a lawsuit you can't win", life must be hard.

It looks like an older Husqvarna he's holding on to.

I did a little bit of research on this. If i read it right, the name Tarzan Tree Service would be ok. But the logo would be pretty iffy, might run into a legal issue there.

The only reason i think this would be true is because i know of a dog kennel called "Scooby Doo's ............" and they've been in business for a while now.

I hope Disney never had a woodweasel character. Luckily i wear a bag over my head so they will not be able to identify me.

Hey why not use the name then put a picture of himself in one of the loin cloths swinging by a climbline.

Well if they do I doubt it will look like your avatar

Now I like it, Scooby-Doo in a loin cloth with a chainsaw swinging thru the trees. Well, there is alot in a name when the product sold is not shown until it is time to pay. If people want to spend money on their trees, I would think some names may make them think twice.

Stihl-O-Matic was talking about a picture of myself in a loin cloth, not Scooby-Doo:monkey:. As far as the product sold? Most of my business as of late has been referrals by past Clients, and another very well established and respected tree care company in my area, so I guess I must be doing something right...right? My business name has also gotten very positive feedback from my clients, and from friends and family, so I guess it must be okay too! One thing I guarantee you I will never be is some smug, paper pushing, desk jockey with a few credentials who goes around looking down his nose at all of the hard working underdogs of the world who are trying to make a living ON THEIR OWN, and maybe, just maybe, they might be more proffessional than given credit for.

Was a guy went by the name "barefoot tree service".
I thought it was the dumbest, and most childish name until I discovered it was his last name.

Still think I would have went with a different Co name.
