First, Grasshopper, you must bring forth the huckleberries. Which, if I get the OK from the medicos this afternoon, I may go scouting for tomorrow. :) Don't try to follow me! I'll be watching my back. So will The Used Dog.

The ripening process is slow this year.

Another huckleberry picture to torture us, eh? This must be your revenge for me making you work when you came down here on vacation. Okay, just for that I'm going to walk about half a mile, pick a fresh cantelope from the field, walk back home, split it, gut it, and put a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on it. Ummmmm...vine fresh cantelope warm from the sun with ice cream.

There's thousands of cantelopes just going to waste there. They ran the pickers through the field once and then turned the sheep in on what was left. Low prices I guess.

That cobbler is made out of blackberries. The huckleberries are late. I got my hands scratched up pretty good and had to use loppers to gain access.
Blackberries of this kind are considered to be noxious weeds. If you get bored, you can grab beer and a chair and watch the vines creeping in to claim your land. Ouch!
