Guys,

Went to the Texas Climbing Championship on Saturday. What an awesome day! Regretting the fact that I did not compete, but had a blast meeting lots of cool people.

Had a chance to meet
-Nathan (TREETX of Austin)
-Louie Hampton (lhampton of Dallas)
-Sean (Squirrel of Austin)

I have some QT movies of the Masters Challenge that I'll try and post later. For now, here is a pic of the tree used in the Masters Challenge. It has a good background shot of the crowd. I'd say there were around 250 people.

Stihl had a speedsaw competition that I have some movies of too. That was fun. They gave away an 020T to the top three winners.

Had chance to throw an axe with my boys and they had chance to climb for the first time ever! Great stuff! My youngest (7yrs) was an animal and was asking me when he could get his own saddle before he even got down from the tree :blob2:

heartland you've got to get him hisown gear. My wife and I decided to teach our children how to climb properly when we found our four year old 15 ft. up a maple in the back yard. He is now 9 and his sister is 11 and they both have thier own gear. I would suggest the New Tribe kids saddle. It is so great to go climbing with my children. They think it just playing. But they are doing it safe. Thier gear stays with mine so we only do it together. Mom just watches.

I have a three year old daughter that I want to take up in a tree with me. What information can y'all share concerning the appropriate gear, and methods? Do's? Don'ts?
She is always asking to come up when she sees me climb.

Kids Gear

Heath,

Get ahold of Charley P at Wildcat Tree in the Little Apple and he can show you the gear he uses with Kids.

Well tree house Dan, that is easy enough, 'cuz that's who I work for! But I was hopin' for some additional help, from you all!

Madeline is only 3. The ouistiti is for 5 & up, should I worry about that? And, how do I hook that to my saddle? I'm pretty sure that she won't be able to get herself up there, so is there additional equipment that I will need on myself?
I showed her the pics of your son, Heartland, and I asked her if she wanted to climb a tree, and she said "Just like you, Dad!"
That was cute, but then she says to me "and I can get a little Chainsaw too!"
Anybody know of a chainsaw for 3-yr-olds? Hehehe

I guess you'd have to try it out to see. The nice thing about the ouistiti is that is is full-body, so the kids can't wiggle out of it.

Checkout www.newtribe.com as they make kids saddles too.

It sounds like you want to clip her into your saddle. Don't know of one that provides a clean way of doing that.... you'll probably have to rig something up to make it work that way.
