I recently acquired a 1665AC stump grinder and I have new greenteeth cutters to install on it.
There are only 4 straight cutters and the rest are angled. I'm not sure which pockets to install the straights on. Can anyone help me out. There weren't any straights on it when I got it. It looked like they put anything they had anywhere they could. I'm kind of new to stump grinders.

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

There are a couple of ways of doing this and it may take some testing to see what you like the best. You can run two straights together and you would have to do the same thing 180 degrees out. You could also put a straight with an angled pocket and do the opposite 180 degrees out. Just don't have all of the straights on the same side of the wheel if you use an angled pocket. Test these and see what works best for you.

I hope this helps!

Some of the mounting holes are out at the outer part of the wheel, while others are set back in some. I wasn't sure if the straights should be on the outer part of the wheel or towards the inner part.

Thanks,

Hi Jeff,

The pocket holes closest to the edge of the wheel are your main cutters. The secondary holes are your clean outs. My opinion is put the Green Teeth on the outer edge as your main cutters. I do have a customer who uses the Green Teeth as the clean outs and square shanked teeth as his main cutters on a RG Super 50 as he thinks his grinder works better with this setup. Keep the Green Teeth sharp and don't run them rounded off.

I would call the Rayco factory, and ask them what tooth arraingement they recommend for the best cutting results.
I am sure they would be glad to help you out.

Thanks for the suggestions Jeff and Dave. I did talk to Rayco and they sent me a chart for the recomended teeth placement on this machine, but it was for the square shanked tools and some of them are turned in, which is not possible with the greenteeth. I will do a litle experimenting with your suggestions and see what works good.

Thanks,
Jeff
