Anyone know where I can get some 5/8 tenex rigging rope?

Not the 2 end per carrier tenex-tec used in whoopie slings, just the straight 12 strand stuff. It is snag free unlike the tenex-tec but has a strength similar to double braids of the same diameter.

Try Seattle Marine www.seamar.com, just call and say you want to talk to a sales rep about cordage.

Why use tenex as a rigging rope? I know it is plenty strong but it does not hold knots very well since it crushes and it seems to pick easily. I am only familiar with the type used in the slings, is there another type?

This guy probably has some;

http://stores.ebay.com/Discount-Rope-and-Line_W0QQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247

only thing about tenex is its a static line ie no stretch so you cannt shock load it like dropping wood onto it but is good for pulling trees over etc

it has 3% stretch at 30% break strength as opposed to 2.7% stretch of stable braid or 3% for arborplex, strong as stable braid, half the price and loses no strength when run througha natural fork as opposed to double braids.

That guy does have some, so thankyou very much!

I got a splool of 5/8 tenex a while back and 1 thing to note is that the diameter is a lot bigger than you might expect. I thought the seller had goofed and sent me 3/4s or something, If you dont like tying knots in this it is super easy to splice, I would use a double locking brummel. I looked tenex up on the web and it does have 3% stretch, I guess I just saw the "low stretch" notation and mistook it for a static line, sorry to misslead
