Looking for input from people who have used these chippers. Which ones better/how you like them. Looking for a new 12 inch chipper.

I recently picked up a couple 730's and I have to say I like them. Pretty well put together, nice balance, plenty of power and they chip well. You don't want to feed them to fast because they can clog but I think the feed speed control comes stock and you can slow it down a little. I have heard complaints that they don't through chips well but I have not found that.

I haven't used the new BC1200 but unless they have totally redesigned the BC1000, it's probably quite a bid lighter build then the 730.

Bandit 990....some good pricing on these units depending on engine option. If that's out then I'd pick the 730.

I have a 730 that I bought new almost 2 years ago. Mine has the 84 hp kubota but you can buy one with a higher hp John Deere motor. The chipper tows easily and has plenty of power for 8" softwood and maybe 6" hardwood like oak. I don't tend to chip bigger hardwood since we sell firewood. I can't complain since my first chipper was a Mitts and Merrill and this has been a big step up. I once read that it clogs easily on deadwood but this has not been my experience. Just keep the knives sharp and the anvil adjusted.
