Today I got flagged down for the first time this year. A young man in camo, who was driving around in a non camo jeep, asked the tired question.

WHERE ARE THE ELK?

I refrained from inefficient speech, and politely showed him the nearby elk tracks.
I didn't mention the herd that I've seen a few times on the next road down.:)

The same guy, waved and got me stopped again today. He asked if I was bear hunting yesterday. I guess I really looked like a hunter, calks, jeans, and no gun or bow. I almost said, yes. I planned to blind it with the flashlight on my little multi-tool, pinch its nose with the pliers, then stab it with the little knife.

The hunters are pouring in today. The cedar deck keeps getting the No Woodcutting signs ripped off and is shrinking. I painted NO CUTTING on it and I'm sure that'll stop them!

The log trucks almost scored today.

The score still stands as Berry pickers 1, Loggers 0.
