What a great weekend! My horses had eaten the bark off of 9 large ironwoods in my turnout areas, and I needed to get them down before
bad weather set in for the winter. Needless to say... my AWESOME combo of the MS210T, MS361 and the MS440 coupled with a John Deere 4700 4WD/Loader allowed me to drop 'em and clean 'em up in a weekend. I don't regret a single penny I spent on those saws! Life is good! Hope ya'll had as good a weekend as I did. Take care and have a great week- Sam:rockn:

I had a great weekend too. Carefully removed a 40 foot red maple from between my house and garage (w/power lines feeding my house under the tree) A friend came over with his MS260 Pro, coupled with a few older homelites (Super 2 for in the tree, XL 12 for ground cleen up and bucking of limbs, and a Super XL for the larger trunk) we made pretty lite work of that tree. I now know there is a 260 pro in my future, maybe even a 361. I also would like a better "in the tree" saw, maybe a ms200t.

You will love the MS200T- I highly recommend it! All of mine were dropped in a fairly narrow row between 2 horse pens without a hitch. I can't emphasize how great the stihl professional grade saws are. The only one missing from my line up is the 660- I can smell one in my future...

What a great weekend. Watched my son play HS football and did a little cutting with the prince of saws. Whatever you do don't let anybody talk you out of a ms200t it is such an awesome saw.

I did some cutting this weekend too. Took out about 15 to 20 assorted species ranging from 2" caliper to about 10" DBH. Red Maples, Sweetgum, Cherry and an assortment of Oaks that were under the canopy and were not going to prosper. I figure on putting in a variety of Japanese Maples in their place but have to get the larger ones down first. I like cutting them it's the cleanup that bothers me. Dragging tops to the burn pile. My wife was amazed at my efficiency. Told me that those good ol' boys on ArborSite taught me well. I didn't have the heart to tell her that it was because the 36cc Craftsman was running well and had a fairly new chain. Yes, I used my little Craftsman (Poulan 2250)...it is great since removing the limiter caps and adjusting the carb. I ran a tank of fuel in it then ran a tank of fuel with my old Poulan 2000...ehh, I need to sharpen the chain on it. I still need to cut up a fairly large Sweetgum so I guess it's time to run my Makita DCS520i next. Since the little homeowner saws that I have are working well I generally save the Makita for the larger wood.
Here is part of the area that I have been working on. The burn pile this past April, here in flames but now built back up.

Sam,

That may be good news for you but in my case that would be a seroius problem. As good of a year as it has been they should not be looking unless they are natural cribbers. In that case I would keep them the he'' away from trees.

Depends on how much pasture he's got. Then again, there's some horses that chew trees(not cribbers) just because they can. My wife's 10 made a mess of some young ash trees here this year, and there's LOTS of forage in the pasture. She grains them and feeds hay all year too.
Sometimes chewers are short on minerals, but there's a red salt block in every pasture here..........

I had a great weekend also, still working on some storm damaged trees from a July storm we had in the area. I think I have 3 pretty good saws myself, a MS260, MS361, and a brand spanking new MS441. I got the 441 on Friday after reading all the comments on here, I had to get one to see for myself. It is not broken in yet but I really like it so far. I had a mint condition 044 that I traded on the 441 to compare it to. The 441 is much smoother and seems to have alot more chain speed. I have to agree with Thall and Lake, it indeed is Da Prince! LOL, I hope I don't get something started.

Another member sold on the 441!!!

Well let's say I was very happy with the deal. The 044 is a great saw, but as I said, the 441 is much smoother and cuts faster. I cannot really tell much of a difference in weight but the 441 seems better balanced, they both have 25" bars.

You will like it a lot. Welcome to the 441 generation.
Pay no mind to Tree Co ( he hasn't even seen one yet )
I am thinking about getting rid of my 44 since I have no need for it anymore.
Maybe I will sell it to Dan since he is such a bore.

I think that if anyone uses a 441 with an open mind will see and feel the difference from the older generation saws.

LONG LIVE THE PRINCE:rock:

Man....you nailed the 441. It is such a smooth saw....when Tree Co gets the chance to run it, he may have a different opinion....but then again.....maybe not. Depends on how open minded he is....everyone builds a great saw (in there own mind)....just depends on your preferance and the support you have. I think you made a great choice. I'm sure I will catch some flack for saying that but the saw is a good one..........
Later....Ron

you shouldn't catch any flack for stating your opinion, at least not from the reasonable people on here.

Unless you are cutting from the ARMCHAIR!!!:jawdrop:
