166 horsepower

According to the Mike Acres chainsaw site, the 166 has 5.9 kW, or 12 HP SAE. Is this correct? If so, does any other production chainsaw come close to this?

OK, when I looked at the Stihl 090, it does list 13 hp. That's incredible to me.

Dolmar get your act together in Dixie

Nice display. I wish your shop was down here in my area. Dolmar dealers are few and far apart in this area. There has been a Dolmar dealer in Decatur, AL for at least two years. He has been at the same location for decades. It's a small shop located in old Decatur. I would consider it a genuine power equipment sales/service shop. Since Dolmar has made plans to expand, a new Dolmar dealer has opened up. I went by both shops a few weeks ago and the established dealer may not carry saws any more since they opened another dealer in his market. The new dealer is also a big bicycle store and has a lot of bicycles but I only saw 2 chainsaws, a PS-34 and a PS-401. I know the Wright Bros worked from a bicycle shop as did many other engineering pioneers but this is a different story altogether. I asked the little girl behind the counter a lot of questions and had her running back and forth between the shop and the front. Every time I asked a question she looked more uncomfortable. It looked like it pained her to deal with a potential chainsaw customer. She didn't know much anything about the Dolmar line or any other saw for that matter. I was not permitted to speak to a mechanic...they were inaccessible, sequestered in the back working on small engines and such. I am disappointed in Dolmar's effort here in my region. They need to get their act together down here in Dixie. I think that the root of this localized problem is with the distributor, SEDCO. I called them up and the man who answered didn't know "Jack". I want to deal with an authentic and genuine power equipment sales/service shop. If I wanted to talk to little girls and play with bicycles I would go to the park...at least they have trees growing there. :dizzy:

Do you have a manual or any parts for the sachs/dolmar 166?? what do you know about them? i am looking at getting one maybe...but i want to know more about them

I'd have a tough time walking out of that store without at least one or two saws!

Grossm, are you looking at a used 166, 'cause they don't make new ones anymore.

Here's the IPL on the Dolmar 166, but must parts are N/L/A. I don't have much for parts for those saws.

There is a 166 on ebay right now. I bought one from this seller a few years ago but we sold it to a neighbor.

Nice display, real nice, looks great.......

Nice saw the CT115 i sold the last of them out here in OZ when Victa Australia the mower manufacturer imported and stocked bits for them.

The ones i sold were used to break down big logs before they where put though the saw bench.

I would luv to own one now but there not easy to find especially out here in OZ.
